Design Sporty Santa!

The University of Portsmouth has teamed up with Portsmouth Football Club.

The winner of our competition will have the opportunity to be a Portsmouth Football Club Mascot. 

The winner will get to

  • Get on the pitch 
  • Do a lap of honour 
  • Lead a Pompey player on 
  • Take part in official line-up photographs
  • Watch the match

The Competition

Get Santa fit for all that work delivering presents on Christmas Eve. 

At the University we have lots of students studying sport and fitness using lots of different equipment.

What equipment would Santa need to get fit?

Does he need elf-help?

Will he need to learn to (North) Pole-vault?

Who can enter?

You must be in Year 5 or 6 from an UP for Juniors member school or a junior or primary school that has taken part in an UP for Juniors visit.

What do I do?

Design Sporty Santa and his fitness equipment.

You can design on paper or on computer. Be as creative or colourful as you like.

Label your drawings and include some writing to tell us as much as possible about your ideas.

Terms and Conditions – University of Portsmouth Mascot Competition

1. All entrants must currently be in Year 5 or 6 (age 9-11 years) and be from a school that is part of the UP for Juniors membership scheme or has taken part in an UP for Juniors visit. Entrants must have permission of their parent/guardian or school staff (acting in loco parentis) to enter the competition.

2. The promoter is: University of Portsmouth whose registered office is at University House, Winston Churchill Avenue, Portsmouth PO1 2UP.

3. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom except employees of the promoter including any third parties and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.

4. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

5. By entering this competition, the entrant indicates his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

6. Only one entry will be entered per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be counted as one.

7. Closing date for entry is 23:59 on 31st December 2018. After this time date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

9. The entry route into this competition is by submitting a ‘Sporty Santa’ entry.

10. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

11. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

12. The prize is one Silver Mascot opportunity at Portsmouth Football Club, Subject to availability. Only one prize per person.

13. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The prize is subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

14. Winners will be chosen by UP for Juniors judges from all entries received and verified by promoter and/or its agents.

15. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 7 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

16. The promoter will notify the winner, via their school, when and how to claim their prize. The name of child, age of child, parent/guardian name, parent/guardian email, parent/guardian telephone, parent/guardian address, must be provided in order to claim the prize. This information will be used by UoP & PFC to contact parents/guardians regarding the event.

17. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

18. The winner will contacted via their school to receive their prize, the promoter takes no responsibility for tracing the winner if the winner is no longer a pupil at the school.

19. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

20. The winner agrees, with permission of their parent/guardian, to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s parent/guardian’s prior consent.

21. The winners’ names will be available 28 days after the competition’s closing date.

22. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

23. You are providing your information only to University of Portsmouth and not to any other party.
