These are offered between from October to March to schools in Portsmouth, Havant, Hayling Island, Waterlooville and Leigh Park areas.

It is a one hour forty five minute to two hour activity session delivered in school to Year 5 children. This usually takes place over a whole morning or afternoon. It addresses the key questions:

  • What is university?
  • Why do people go to university?
  • Who can go to university?
  • Where do people go to university?
  • When do people go to university?

It involves a series of fun and interactive activities to:

  • Familiarise children with vocabulary of higher education
  • Make children aware of different opportunities available to them
  • Break down stereotypes

Each year over 1,500 children receive Year 5 talks as part of UP for Juniors.

In order for the visit to take place we will need access to a projector where we can plug in our laptop and a space big enough to spread out into four groups with activities – ideally the hall.

Your UP for Juniors contact should have returned a form to us at the beginning of the academic year with the timings for your school day and numbers of children attending.
